Resumo

This review of recent trends and progress in international development cooperation was prepared to inform the United Nations Secretary General and the high-level Development Cooperation Forum (DFC), held in 2008. The report focuses on aspects of South-South and triangular development cooperation, including: the definition of official development assistance (ODA) and implications for determining the quantity of South-South development assistance; the key actors; the scale of South-South and triangular development cooperation flows and its implications; the scope, type and allocation of South-South and triangular development cooperation flows; the quality of South-South development cooperation; and the impact of South-South development cooperation, with particular emphasis on good practices in social and infrastructural areas.
