Resumo
In the second half of 2018, Austria took over the EU
Council Presidency and with that the chairmanship
of the six Council working parties in development
cooperation and humanitarian aid, where decisions
are prepared for the Council of the European Union.
As chairing country, Austria played a major role and
was able to make progress on major issues in European
development policy. On the initiative of Austria, the European development ministers met at the Foreign Affairs Council – Development in November with the Nobel laureates Nadia Murad and Denis Mukwege for talks on gender equality and human rights, where they discussed ways for the EU and its member states to prevent gender-based violence.
