On May 2nd, 2023, the Economic and Social Council is holding a special meeting at the UN Headquarters to discuss the impact of corruption on SDG achievement and explore ways to combat it and promote SDG 16. Participants from various sectors are convening to collectively discuss ways to accelerate the agenda and ensure inclusivity. The program includes a panel discussion with experts, interventions by Member States, UN entities, and civil society organizations, and an informal summary by the ECOSOC President of the key messages and recommendations from the discussions. The meeting will also provide insights for the upcoming "SDG 16 Rome Conference" hosted by Italy, with the theme "SDG 16 as a compass for navigating intersecting crises."
