pt <p> In collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), ITTO will convene the<b>ITTO Tropical Forest Fire Expert Group Meeting</b> as a satellite event at the 27th session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO 27), which will take place at FAO headquarters on 22–26 July 2024.</p>

<p>The Expert Group Meeting will share enabling policies, strategies, best practices and lessons learned on integrated landscape fire management in the tropics; identify the changing drivers of forest fire and factors influencing fire behaviour and challenges specific to the tropics in implementing integrated fire management; review and gather feedback on the implementation of the ITTO Guidelines for Fire Management in Tropical Forests; provide input and discuss key guiding policies, principles and recommended actions leading to the revision of the ITTO Guidelines for Fire Management in Tropical Forests; and enhance knowledge and partnerships between existing fire initiatives, including the FAO-UNEP Global Fire Management Hub.
